Mainland Chinese visitor ‘beaten unconscious’ following brawl in Hong Kong jewellery shop

A male visitor from mainland China was allegedly beaten unconscious during a dispute with a female tour guide in a jewellery shop in Hong Kong this morning.

Police are searching for four male attackers in connection with the case that happened in Man Lok Street, Hung Hom at around 11am today.

The victim was among a group of 19 mainland tourists shopping in the office of a jewellery company in Kaiser Estate Phase Two before a row erupted.

“A female tour member allegedly had a dispute with the tour guide as she did not want to make a purchase in the shop,” a police source said.

The male tour member, in his 50s, joined the dispute before a scuffle between the three broke out.

“During the scuffle, four men rushed in and attacked the mainland man.”

The attackers fled before police arrived and the man was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Yau Ma Tei.

A police spokeswoman said he was among the three arrested on suspicion of fighting in a public place.

The female tour guide, who was also arrested, complained of feeling unwell. She was also taken to the same hospital for treatment.

The third suspect was the female tour member who involved in the dispute.
