About 180 academics from different universities have decided to boycott the government's public consultation on retirement protection, which they say is misleading.
They accused the administration of playing with numbers and exaggerating the cost of a proposed universal pension scheme.
One of the scholars, Professor Chung Kim-wah from the Polytechnic University's Centre for Social Policy Studies, said that there are other ways to make such a scheme sustainable besides raising taxes, but the government refused to listen to their opinions.
