The Secretary for Justice Rimsky Yuen Kwok-keung said he was hospitalised for three days last week due to severe abdominal pain.
On his first day of work after being released from hospital on Friday, Yuen said today that he believed his condition would not affect his performance.
Yuen said he started to feel discomfort on November 29 and went to see a doctor in the afternoon the next day, after attending a public event. The doctor advised him to visit a hospital if the pain deteriorated.

On the morning of December 1, Yuen felt severe pain in his abdomen and went to a hospital, where doctors told him to remain for further check-ups such as an X-ray computed tomography, or CT scan.
Yuen said his condition involved bowel problems but declined to disclose further details. He said he still needed to take medicine and return to the doctor for check-ups.
“It’s common to have high work pressure,” said Yuen. “I believe everybody in the whole administration ... has high work pressure.
“I have illnesses from time to time. These things happen. But I believe I can handle my work without problems in my current condition.”
