The police bomb disposal unit has been called in to investigate a small explosion and fire in a rubbish bin at the demonstration area outside the Legislative Council complex.
The incident happened around 8.30pm on Wednesday, several hours after the copyright bill debate was adjourned due to a lack of quorum.
Parts of the bin were scattered on the ground. A gas cylinder and a bottle of alcohol were found nearby. Metal railings were also knocked down.
The Legco president, Tsang Yok-sing said he was very concerned and condemned the incident.
