Hong Kong's competition law take full effect from Monday, and the statutory body charged with enforcing the new regime is reminding companies of their duties under the law.
The head of the Competition Commission, Anna Wu, says the law will help promote a level playing field, by banning actions that harm competition here.
Wu said companies had to remember four basic rules to avoid falling foul of the Commission when they came into contact with competitors, either through normal business or through membership of trade associations.
She said they must not agree to or take part in price-fixing, restricting output, allocating markets or rigging bids.
Wu said sharing of sensitive commercial information like future prices and output is also forbidden.
Wu last week urged the government to set up a litigation fund of at least HK$100 million for the statutory body to take cases to court.
