Chan Kin-por
Lawmakers' holiday plans have derailed a move by the chairman of the Legislative Council's Finance Committee to hold extra meeting in December to approve a controversial funding request for the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau bridge project.
"I can understand that many councillors have already booked their trips overseas, it would be difficult for them to attend meetings during the period I suggested," Chan Kin-por said.
Chan has now proposed holding extra meetings in January so that a vote on the HK$5.46 billion application for the border-crossing facilities on the bridge’s artificial island could be taken as early as possible.
Chan said that he's optimistic that the funding request can be put to a vote by the end of January.
