Lawmakers have passed a non-binding motion that urges the government to beef up efforts to protect owners in private residential buildings from illegal bid-rigging for repairs and renovations.
DAB lawmaker Christopher Chung put forward the motion and was supported by both pan-democratic and pro-establishment legislators.
Lawmakers also suggested the government set up a single independent body to look after such cases.
But Development Secretary, Paul Chan, said he thinks this is unnecessary.
