The Town Planning Board has rejected lawmaker Albert Chan's proposal, to rezone two PLA barracks in Tsim Sha Tsui and Kowloon Tong for residential use.
Board members said Chan did not submit a technical assessment on the proposal, and generally agreed with the government's argument that the two sites have military significance.
The People Power lawmaker said the board's decision was expected, but stressed members should consider his suggestion in the long run because most of the PLA-occupied sites in Hong Kong have been under-utilised.
