Education groups have expressed concern that a survey has found that only two-thirds of local students are satisfied with the amount of leisure time they get.

The Professional Teachers Union was one of the groups that organized the poll, which covered students from primary four to secondary five late last year.

The survey also found that students are spending more time at school and more time doing homework, compared to a similar poll carried out 12 years ago.

The survey results coincide with growing criticism of the workload being imposed on Hong Kong students, particularly through the Territory-wide System Assessment (TSA). Critics say the TSA imposes an intolerable workload on children.

The Education Secretary, Eddie Ng, said on Saturday that schools run the risk of getting an official warning if they continue to drill their students to prepare for the TSA.

Last months, parents attending a Legco special meeting accused the government of neglecting the plight of primary school children, describing the TSA assessment as gruesome, and calling for it to be scrapped for primary three pupils.
