A Hong Kong woman has handed over to railway authorities a diamond ring that she found on a local train, winning huge praise for her honesty.
The woman found an expensive ring in a rail carriage as she was traveling by the East Rail Line over the weekend.
Suspecting that someone may have dropped the item accidentally, the woman took a picture of the ring and posted it on her Facebook page Sunday to alert the owner, Headline Daily reported.
Then she took the ring to the customer service center at Kowloon Tong Station and handed it over to the rail staff.
Netizens who saw her social media post and learnt of her action praised the passenger for showing exemplary integrity.
From the picture, the ring appeared to be quite big and very expensive, people noted.
The woman deserves praise for returning the valuable item and not falling prey to temptation to keep the ring for herself, a commentator said.
Rail operator MTR, meanwhile, said the owner of the ring can get in touch with a customer service center at any of its stations in order to make a claim for the lost possession.
In another tale of honesty, a citizen posted a photo of a purse after claiming to have found it in the Kwun Tong area.
The purse contained HK$2,000 in cash, the person wrote on Facebook Sunday, adding that the item has been handed over to a police station.
