Civic Party legislator, and former journalist, Claudia Mo on Wednesday criticised the media for its coverage of lawmaker Ng Leung-sing's remarks about Lee Bo, saying they shouldn’t have dignified it with any coverage.
She said this sidelined the original suspicion that mainland authorities had acted illegally by forcibly taking the Causeway Bay bookseller Lee from Hong Kong. She said that allegation, raised by some lawmakers like Albert Ho, was more “believable”.
Ng on Tuesday said in Legco that Lee and four others were held on the mainland over prostitution charges, citing what he said was a message from his friend. On Wednesday Ng apologised to Lee’s wife for the comment.
