The Swedish Foreign Ministry says it has raised the issue of one of the five missing men from a Hong Kong publishing firm with the Chinese ambassador to the country.
Mainland-born Gui Minhai, a naturalised Swedish citizen, was last seen while on a holiday to Thailand last October.
Three other men linked to the Mighty Current publishing company disappeared while on the mainland, and it is feared that a fifth man, Lee Bo, was abducted from Hong Kong last month by mainland security agents.
The publisher specialises in books that are critical of the Communist Party.
The Swedish Foreign Ministry says the Chinese ambassador was summoned over a separate case, that of a Swede detained on the mainland on suspicion of endangering state security.
