A Yuen Long nursery has issued a warning after reports that a man posing as a parent tried to kidnap two schoolchildren on Monday.
Police are investigating the reports. They are asking witnesses to come forward.
NAAC Yuen Long Day Nursery warned parents about a Putonghua-speaking man who has made several attempts to lure children from their minders, according to Apple Daily.
Worried parents took photos of the notice at the school entrance and posted them on social media where they have gone viral.
It said the man would introduce himself as a parent to gain the confidence of minders, usually domestic helpers and elderly relatives sent to pick up the children.
He would then distract them and try to lure the children away.
The nursery is in Mau Tan Street near a busy commercial area.
A parent, who has a son in the nursery, said the reports are terrifying.
On Monday, the suspect pounced on a domestic helper and a grandmother and tried to snatch two children from them, according to Headline Daily.
But the man fled when his targets sensed something was amiss, the newspaper said.
