The Chief Secretary, Carrie Lam, said it is hard to tell whether Hong Kong will become more united and harmonious if CY Leung is no longer the chief executive.
Speaking on a radio programme, she said people see things differently and sometimes people make wrong assumptions.
She cited herself as example, saying that although a lot of people see her as having a very tough character, she's actually a sentimental person.
Lam said she did not regret working for the CY Leung administration, saying that she's gained more than what she's lost.
There's just a little more than a year to go before Lam steps down as Chief Secretary. She's previously made clear that she has no intention of staying in the government or running for Chief Executive.
The outgoing official added that the first thing she hopes to do after retiring is to visit her family in the United Kingdom. But she stressed she won't stay there for good as Hong Kong will always be her home.
