The government says it will be highly vigilant against the deadly Ebola virus, in view of the current outbreak of the disease in West Africa.

But it says there are no suspected cases of the disease here in Hong Kong so far.

A newspaper had reported that a woman who'd recently returned from Kenya has shown symptoms associated with Ebola, and was quarantined at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

But the Hospital Authority's Chief Infection Control Officer, Dr Dominic Tsang, said the patient has now been discharged, and authorities had never suspected that she had ebola.

The Hospital Authority also said it's planning to send all suspected ebola cases to the infectious disease centre at Princess Margaret Hospital.

The Center for Health Protection's Dr Chuang Shuk-kwan noted that the World Health Organisation has said business travelling, or travelling to such places, are not considered at extremely low risk.

She with Hong Kong being an international city, the risk exists here for imported cases.

"We have put in place many infection control measures, and early detection , early isolation treatment, so hope to contain every possible cases," Dr Chuang said.
