An organiser of the Occupy Central campaign Chan Kin-man said he believes the chance of launching the civil disobedience movement in August is now higher.

This comes after organisers of Occupy Central met with the Chief Secretary Carrie Lam on Tuesday to discuss political reform.

Mrs Lam said Tuesday she'd told the campaigners that the planned civil disobedience action would not yield any positive results, and they would not succeed in forcing Beijing's hand on political reform.

Speaking after a radio programme Wednesday, Dr Chan said he was disappointed that Mrs Lam didn't provide any solutions during the meeting, on how a consensus on political reform could be reached in the community.

Dr Chan also said he and many others involved in the civil disobedience movement have been victims of the "white terror" that some say have been spreading in Hong Kong recently.

He warned that this political persecution will continue to spread in the territory in the next few months.

"We ourselves also experienced this kind of white terror during the past one-and-a-half years after we launched the movement, including life-threatening letters with razor attached sent to us," he said.

Dr Chan said volunteers of the movement and their relatives and business partner have been harrassed because they joined the campaign.

But, he said they won't be cowed, because they believe they are acting in the best interests of the community.
