Members of the Civil Human Rights Front on Thursday demanded that a soon-to-retire police superintendent be prosecuted for hitting a peaceful protester with his truncheon during last year's Occupy protests.
The group staged a rally outside police headquarters to voice their demands.
Television footage from last November showed superintendent Franklin Chu hitting a passer-by who appeared to have done nothing wrong.
The Independent Police Complaints Council reportedly felt that Mr Chu had committed an assault, despite the Complaints Against Police Office finding it was just abuse of authority.
Chan Shu-fai of the Civil Human Rights Front said they will keep up pressure on the police until they see a satisfactory result.
