Streaming media provider Netflix will launch its movie and television streaming service in Hong Kong early next year, as part of its expansion in Asia. Details on pricing and programmes will be announced later.
The company's announcement came about a week after it launched its service in Japan – its first foray into Asia. The pricing there is approximately HK$60 per month for the basic package.
Netflix said it will also begin service in South Korea, Singapore and Taiwan, bringing its service to 200 countries by the end of next year.
It said it's "continuing to explore options" on the mainland market which is censored by the government, and already dominated by some domestic players.
Subscribers of Netflix can watch a curated selection of popular television shows and movies on nearly any internet-connected screen.
