The government's proposed new Innovation and Technology Bureau is being discussed once again in Legco. Also back is the filibustering that prevented funding for it being agreed before the summer break.

Several radical lawmakers including People Power's Albert Chan and Raymond Chan have vowed to continue their delaying tactics.

The Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Greg So, urged radical lawmakers to stop holding things up.

The government says the bureau is needed to promote innovation in the SAR. But critics oppose the idea saying it will not benefit the society.

Chief Executive CY Leung first proposed to set up the IT Bureau when he took office in 2012. The former vice president of Hong Kong Polytechnic University Nicholas Yang was tipped to head the bureau.

He was appointed as Adviser to the Chief Executive on Innovation and Technology, after the funding request failed to get Legco's approval earlier.
