As Hongkongers, we’re more than used to seeing cockroaches running around our feet in back allies, scuttling in the stairwells of our buildings, and even languishing in the odd Maxim’s meal.
It still comes as an unpalatable surprise, however, when we’re casually shopping for dumplings in our local supermarket, only to come face to face with an insect doing the same.
Thanks to cockroach crusadingCoconaut Marius Vasiliu who sent us this photo of a cringey crawly apparently making himself at home in a display cabinet at the Taste Supermarket in the Hopewell Centre, Wan Chai.
And there were we thinking Taste was fancy.
ParknShop, which owns Taste, is yet to respond to our request for a comment.
Note, however, that the cockroach in question is sat on a mirror, so it’s actually only half as bad as it looks.
