The government has rejected concerns that the planned third runway would become a repeat of the express rail to Guangzhou, in terms of cost overruns and delays.
The rail project has been hampered by repeated delays that has sent its cost soaring from its original estimated budget.
Lawmakers from across the political spectrum raised fears that the HK$141 billion runway project will face similar rising costs and become poorly managed.
But officials from both the Transport Bureau and the Airport Authority told members of the Legco subcommittee for the project that they have enough experts in place to ensure that won't be the case.
