The Confederation of Trade Unions has repeated their call for a major revamp of the Mandatory Provident Fund system, which it accused of failing to offer retired employees adequate protection.
The group said various problems have plagued the system since it was implemented 15 years ago.
The confederation's chief executive, Mung Siu-tat, said the problems included high management fees, and a controversial mechanism in which employers can use their MPF contribution to offset severance and long service payments.
