Chief Executive CY Leung says he hasn’t thought about seeking a second term in office, after several callers to a phone-in programme he attended asked about it and one told him not to.
The caller was unhappy about Leung’s housing policy and the special stamp duties imposed to curb property market speculation, and said “I absolutely object to your re-election. Please don’t seek a second term.”
Leung replied that the government has to make sure Hong Kong’s financial sector is safe, and that financial policies and housing policies are two different things.
Leung added he hadn’t thought about seeking re-election yet, and wanted to focus on implementing plans in his policy address.
When asked why there was no mention of the missing bookseller Li Bo in his address, Leung said they're very concerned with the case, but the policy address is not the right place to talk about it.
