Questions were raised on the timing of the graft-busters' raids.
Civic Party's Claudia Mo questioned whether the ICAC swoop was politically motivated as Beijing will hand down the decision on Hong Kong's political reform on Sunday.
"Why did they not come last week, or next week but, coincidentally, when the discussion on political reform is ongoing in Beijing now?
"The whole issue is political persecution," Mo said.
Meanwhile, Legco's Committee on Members Interests chairman Ip Kwok- him said the committee will hold a meeting on October 6 to discuss Lai's donation to pan-democratic lawmakers.
Ip would not comment on the ICAC raids.
October's meeting will follow up on complaints concerning lawmakers who received donations from Lai. The committee has already asked the lawmakers to respond and provide relevant information.
