The Small and Medium Law Firms Association will set up a hotline on Monday to provide free legal advice to people who may be affected by any civil disobedience actions initiated by the Occupy Central movement, and who may like to claim compensation.

The Association says 17 solicitors and barristers have agreed to help, and the hotline will remain in service for three months.

The association has taken a strong stance against Occupy Central, saying it will paralyse Hong Kong's main business district.

Occupy Central has said it will peacefully block the streets of Central if Beijing does not offer Hong Kong political reform that meets international standards of democracy.
