The chairman of Hong Kong's biggest pro-Beijing political party is in the United States to get overseas Chinese to oppose Occupy Central.

Tam Yiu-chung of the Democratic Alliance for the Betterment and Progress of Hong Kong is accompanied by lawmakers Elizabeth Quat Pui-fan and Steven Ho Chun-yin.
Tam told Chinese entrepreneurs in the United States that Occupy Central and civil nomination are against the Basic Law and that universal suffrage should be executed under a legal framework.
He also said the DAB and most citizens are opposed to these two approaches.
"Occupy Central will seriously influence Hong Kong's economy and is harmful to Hong Kong's image, its development and the growth," he said.

Tam and the others arrived in the United States on Tuesday and have already visited San Francisco, Los Angeles and New York. Tam said they do not aim to collect more signatures for the anti-Occupy campaign but to strengthen communication with Hongkongers abroad.
Meanwhile, Legislative Council Finance Committee chairman Ng Leung-sing denied forcing staff in various mainland-invested companies to sign a declaration against Occupy Central.
"If a colleague is willing to join a legal social campaign, we won't stop him. I won't force anyone as we respect people's rights."
Asked if department heads set up records of staff who signed up, Ng said: "If there is evidence, staff can report it. If they are pressurized to sign ... they should report this.
