A Western woman has drawn the ire of thousands of Hongkongers after she was filmed apparently hitting a two people with her car during an argument, and continuing to drive for about 50 metres as people stood in front of her vehicle, pushing them forward.

The woman, who was driving a silver seven-seater Toyota, allegedly scraped a black car at around 1:30pm yesterday in Causeway Bay and continued driving, according to a witness who spoke to Apple Daily. The incident was partially captured by the witness' dashcam.

The driver of the black car then got in front of the seven-seater in an attempt to stop it from leaving. However, the Western woman kept driving, and instead pushed the Hong Kong woman with her car.

Seeing the commotion, a nearby taxi driver, surnamed Chiu, went and stood in front of the seven-seater and shouted, "Stop it!" When the driver refused, Chiu was seen hitting the bonnet of the car with his hand.

The Toyota then continued driving for about 50 metres to Great George Street, until it was blocked by two other cars. Police officers arrived on the scene a few minutes later, took down the Western woman's details and let her go.

The woman whose car was hit was reported to have suffered from unspecified injuries. Netizens have blasted police for releasing the Western driver.

Under the Road Traffic Ordinance, it is an offence to leave the scene of an accident without first giving the other party or a police officer your personal details and the vehicle's registration information.
