The Transport Department says it has been monitoring the traffic situation in South Lantau after dozens of residents staged a sit-in on a key road on Sunday morning.
Traffic on Keung Shan Road was paralysed for more than an hour as angry residents complained that officials for not widening roads in the area fast enough.
They were also not unhappy with a scheme that allows up to 25 private cars per day into the restricted area on weekdays, saying it has increased traffic.
However a Transport Department spokesman said not all the quotas were allocated.
