Water Hero At about 11am, a large pool of water gathers on a Tai Po road. Cars are unwilling to drive through it, resulting in major congestion. A 64-year-old tow truck driver walks into the pool of water to investigate. A drain is blocked, and so he uses his bare hands to clear the rubbish. The water clears and drivers give him a round of applause.

Longan Liar A 56-year-old man hears from a friend that there are many longan trees in Kwai Chung, and so he embarks on a trip to pick the summer fruit. He arrives at the area, but finds no longan. He climbs up a tree to get a better vantage point, but falls and hurts his waist. He is taken to the hospital and is in stable condition.

Tooth Hairy An 86-year-old woman from the mainland feels sick after a minibus ride and vomits into a drain in the street. Her dentures, which she has used for more than 20 years, fall out and slip into the drain. Her daughter borrows a plastic tube from a shop and connects the end to a bag to fish out the dentures, but has no success after two hours. The Drainage Services Department has promised to help them to retrieve the dentures.

Ape Escape A monkey finds its way into a municipal building in Lam Tin and is seen jumping around by a window. A staff member calls the police for help and the police begin a search. After looking in vain for four hours, they give up and leave. The monkey is not seen again.

Mom Knows Best At around 3am, a woman begins a heated argument with her husband over how to discipline their daughters. She kicks him out of their Tin Shui Wai apartment and threatens their two daughters with a knife. She refuses to open the door, even after the police arrive. After 14 hours the police decide to break in. No one is hurt.

Gone Postal Hongkong Post issues its “2014 Hong Kong Definitive Stamps” set, themed around geological landmarks in the SAR. However, it misspells “Bride’s Pool” as “Bride’s Poo.” Hongkong Post halts the sale of the stamps and arranges a reprint. A collector tells Apple Daily that the stamps with typos are much more valuable.

Dim Sum Rage At around 2am, a man yells at a 7-Eleven worker in Sham Shui Po after he finds the convenience store does not sell lo mai gai dim sum. The man starts hitting the employee and throwing shopping baskets at him, injuring his eyes and hands. The worker calls the police and the assailant flees the scene.
