The Hong Kong University Students' Union on Thursday issued an ultimatum to the government, demanding it to listen to calls for civil nomination for the chief executive election in 2017.
In a declaration, the union vowed to join hands with other universities and tertiary institutions to boycott classes in protest against Beijing's decision to put forward a conservative political reform framework for the election.
The union's President, Yvonne Leung, said the boycott of classes may begin on September 22nd, depending on the outcome of a meeting with various student unions on Saturday.
