Taste supermarket at Olympian City in Tai Kok Tsui has been accused of selling oranges with mold growing on them, netizens have reported, citing a Facebook post.

A supermarket employee simply wiped away the mold before putting the oranges back on the shelf, according to the post.

The alleged incident took place on April 23, according to netizens who posted photos of a supermarket staffer pushing a trolley with a carton of oranges.

As seen in the pictures, some of the oranges have greyish mold on the surface.

The female supermarket worker is seen using a piece of cloth to wipe the oranges clean and then placing them on a tray for sale.

The netizens said they have filed a complaint with the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department.

The FEHD confirmed that it has received a complaint about the case, and is now conducting an investigation, Ming Pao Daily reported.

The department will also send inspectors to the shop in question and reply to the complainant as soon as possible.

Ming Pao said it has yet to receive a response to its enquiries from ParknShop, which operates the Taste brand of superstores.
