Heads of Tsim Sha Tsui and Kwun Tong gangs thought to have fled to the mainland

Alleged leaders of two Sun Yee On triad factions are among 10 gangsters being hunted by Hong Kong police after a spiral of attacks and revenge attacks between the two gangs in the past month, sources told the Post on Wednesday.
One of them was the Tsim Sha Tsui faction leader known as “Sai B”, sources said. A Hongkonger in his late 30s, he is understood to have taken the reins of the gang after its leader Lee Tai-lung, 41, was chopped to death outside the Kowloon Shangri-La in 2009.
“The other leader wanted by police in connection with the revenge attacks is the Kwun Tong faction leader, alias Man Sun Chung,” one source said.
Police insiders said initial investigation indicated the two leaders fled to mainland China and police have sought help from mainland counterparts.
The spat between two factions of the powerful triad organisation began after a dispute at a birthday party in a pub on Hanoi Street, Tsim Sha Tsui, on March 30.
Afterwards, outside the pub, an alleged member of the Tsim Sha Tsui faction was ambushed with choppers by about 10 gangsters from the Kwun Tong faction.
By Wednesday the man, 33, badly wounded, was still in hospital, in a stable condition.
It was understood the Tsim Sha Tsui gang made two attempts at revenge earlier this month.
In mid-April, police arrested four alleged members of the Kwun Tong faction over the chopping. They were granted bail pending further investigation.
On Sunday night, a man, 24, believed to be a member of the Kwun Tong gang, was badly injured by eight knife-wielding men in a chopping attack after a taxi he was in was intercepted by two cars on the Kwun Tong Bypass in Ngau Tau Kok. He suffered multiple wounds and fell into coma. He was taken to a public hospital.
On Monday and Tuesday, police arrested 11 men and one woman, aged 18 to 36, over the latter attack in a series of raids across east Kowloon.
Nine of them were released on bail. On Wednesday evening, the other three were still being questioned. No one had been charged.
“It appears the revenge attacks between the two gangs have subsided after the arrests,” another source said. “If necessary, police will raid entertainment venues controlled by the two factions.”
Sun Yee On is one of the city’s powerful triad societies and Tsim Sha Tsui East is its stronghold.
Police have offered a HK$600,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of Leung Kwok-chung, 46, alias Man Sun Chung, Ng Yik-tung, 28, known as Ng Tung, and So Kai-man, 28, alias So Kai, in connection with Lee’s death.
