The vice-chairman of Demosisto, Oscar Lai, says the new political party would not shy away from discussing the independence of Hong Kong, although he thinks the city can't achieve it at the moment.
Speaking on an RTHK programme, Mr Lai said the student-led party would like to organise a referendum in ten years time, to let the public express their views about the city's future.
He said the independence of Hong Kong would be one of the options, adding that other choices would be letting Beijing take full control of Hong Kong, or keeping the city's way of life unchanged for another fifty years after 2047.
