Student activist, Ivan Lam, has been remanded in custody for breaching his community service order.
Lam, who is a former member of the disbanded student activist group Scholarism, was earlier ordered to perform 80 hours of community service for taking part in an unlawful assembly in 2013.
But a probation officer wrote to the court recently that the 21-year-old has a record of being late, disappearing and not answering phone calls from the probation service. The officer said Lam’s performance was therefore unsatisfactory.
The case was adjourned to May 20 for the court to decide whether he should be imprisoned.
Lam admitted he has an attitude problem, but hoped to complete the community service.
