Joshua Wong is going to college after all.
The Hong Kong student activist has been admitted to an unnamed local university, he said in a Facebook post.
Also securing a place for the upcoming school term is fellow activist Agnes Chow, government broadcaster RTHK reported Friday.
Wong, whose future had been uncertain after his political advocacy group Scholarism caused him to sacrifice his studies, said he is waiting for the result of an appeal relating to certain exam results.
“I have secured a place in university through the JUPAS program,” he said on Facebook. He did not say which university had made the offer.
The post has earned 12,900 likes.
Chow said she has been admitted to the social science program of Baptist University.
More than 64,000 secondary students have applied for a government-subsidized first-year university degree placement program under the Joint University Programs Admissions System (JUPAS).
About 16,000 have passed the entrance examination.
Twelve made it to the “super top scorers” list, nine of whom were picked by the University of Hong Kong (HKU). They have applied for a degree program in medicine, law or arts.
The rest have been admitted to the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK).
HKU admitted 2,467 JUPAS students this year and CUHK 2,630, the report said.
