Cheng Chung-tai speaks to RTHK's Altis Wong
A localist group member says he was shocked that a member of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University's governing council posted an open letter on campus on Wednesday against the renewal of his work contract.
Cheng Chung-tai from Civic Passion is a teaching fellow in the university's Department of Applied Social Sciences.
In the letter, Lau Ping-cheung, who is a supporter of Chief Executive CY Leung, questioned whether Cheng's pro-independence stance was suitable for someone in a teaching post.
"This is a totally unacceptable behaviour", Cheng told RTHK’s Altis Wong on Thursday, adding that he felt he was being put under political pressure.
Lau has declined to be interviewed, saying he has already stated his views in the open letter.
