A female web television host was injured in a mysterious attack Wednesday night at Tai Po Waterfront Park, Apple Daily reported Friday.

The 28-year-old TV presenter, surnamed Law, suffered four knife wounds to her waist and left shoulder, but luckily her injuries were not serious.

Law was taking a walk and chatting with a female friend surnamed So at around 10 p.m. in the park when a masked man about six feet tall attacked her from behind with a 10-inch bone-chopper.

So and Law said they did not know who the attacker was and were completely shocked by the incident.

Law fell to the ground in extreme pain, and the attacker escaped.

Police were called and immediately launched a search for the suspect.

They found no one but retrieved a 10-inch knife, believed to be the weapon in the attack.

Tai Po district councilor Kwan Wing-yip said attacks like this with no clear motive are quite rare, but he recalled that there was a robbery at the park several years ago involving injuries.

Kwan said it would be very worrying if the attacker was randomly picking targets at a recreational facility frequented by visitors day and night.

He urged police to increase the frequency of their patrols and the Leisure and Cultural Services Department to assign more security guards to the park.
