A senior mainland official, Zhang Dejiang, will visit Hong Kong next month at CY Leung's invitation to attend a forum on the Belt and Road economic initiative.
The forum is jointly organised by the SAR government, the state economic planning agency, the ministry of commerce and the People's Bank of China.
The Chief Executive says the "One Belt, One Road" initiative will give an enormous boost to Hong Kong's long-term social and economic development.
Mr Zhang, the chairman of the Standing Committee of China's National People's Congress, will give a speech at the forum.
