The ICAC has reportedly opened an investigation into an alleged conflict of interest case involving one of Hong Kong's top civil servants.
It concerns a flat-swap deal between the Permanent Secretary for Home Affairs, Betty Fung, and a company owned by a sister-in-law of Macau casino magnate Stanley Ho.
The official had swapped a mid-levels flat and HK$6.5 million cash with the company, in return for two adjoining flats in Happy Valley. An online media report said various valuations of the properties showed that the two Happy Valley flats were worth millions more than what they were traded for.
The chairman of the League of Social Democrats, Avery Ng, who filed a complaint with the anti-graft body, said he was notified about the probe on Tuesday. He is to give evidence to investigators on Wednesday.
